Wind blew my car door wide open, it is ok?

I was about the get into my car and suddenly a strong wind blew my car door wide open. Nothing seems to be disloged, the door still closes properly - should I get it inspected or is it ok? It is a brand new car I just picked up yesterday so just making sure.

Should be ok. This has happened to me a few times. Don't worry about it.

Look closely at the door hinges, and the mounting of the hinges to the car's frame. If any sheet metal seems bent or shows odd reflections of light, you might want to ask the dealer about it. Realistically unless it was a really hard yank on the door, it should be fine.

Your door is probably perfectly fine. There are two possible effects. Number 1 is that the force was strong enough to 'walk' the hinge forward a bit (making the gap between the fender and the door smaller, and the gap between the two doors larger). This shouldn't be more than a couple millimeters.

The second possible effect is linked to the first, it may result in the door dropping a couple millimeters as well (at least the door latch side). If your door isn't clunking when you close it (not hitting the striker) then you're fine. If your door is hitting the striker it isn't a big deal, unless it is hitting really bad. You could always just bend the door back up to the proper height if it is hitting.

Odds are that your door is perfectly fine though.

Next time, hold the door. Did your door happened to ding the car next to yours?

A life spent making mistakes is not only more memorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.

This is exactly right and the most likely outcome if your door "whips" open due to a strong wind.
The same outcome would be achieved if the rear door were to "whip" open. The gap between your rear door and your rear quarter panel would get bigger and the gap between your 2 doors would get smaller.
This is one of the ways autoworkers fix small irregular gaps between doors on the assembly line.

Had this happen to me about three years ago, everything seemed fine until the next rain fall and water was dripping into the car. Took it to mechanics and had to replace one of the springs, about a $30 repair if I remember correctly.

If its damaged you'll basically know right away.
Happened to me the one time and it bent the hinge so the door seal was compromised as I heard blowing wind noise when on the highway.

Car probably has unseen internal body damage now, destroyed. I'll buy it for $5,000

Whatever to those guys posting race car destroyed comments, don't see them here anymore.
